Bonju! And Merħba Malta!

Greetings from Malta! Bonju is Maltese for Hello, and merħba means "welcome" or "welcome to."

It has been a whirlwind few weeks. Selling our home and car in Delaware, and getting rid of most of most of our possessions, until we only had a few suitcases. A brief few days in Dublin, and then a move into our new home (a beautiful marble villa with a rooftop view for kilometres and kilometres going all the way to the Mediterranean). The new house is walkable to many playgrounds, multiple grocers (including a 5min walk to the main grocery store which is massive, at two full levels), local bakeries, toy shops, pharmacies, and the local farm for all our fresh amazing produce (especially the passionfruit and grapefruit!). Public transport is easy and we're not planning to get a car. We live in a city filled with rich culture, ancient history, and beautiful natural scenery from green ravines pockmarked by ancient stone walls (one right behind our house) to dramatic cliffs on the vivid blue sea.

Things I'm not quite used to yet:
1. Drying our clothes on the roof. No dryer (we've considered buying one, but are trying without) and that's been a shift.  We have an indoor room on the roof and a separate wide space with clotheslines.
2. The metric system. Yes, I'm learning fast. I think I have Celsius down, but the rest takes getting used to.
3. The electric plugs. One of the most surprising things here is that all the outlets are British (Malta was British until 50 years ago, which is why English is an official language), meaning three squared holes. But every electric device is sold with the European two round pins. So we've had to buy many, many adapters.

Things I've already absolutely fallen in love with:
1. Everything is walkable or a quick cab or bus ride
2. The history!
3. Food! In Mdina, we had the absolute best vegan pizza I've ever had in my life- with vegan mozzarella di bufala that was amazing. We can order delivery from everywhere on the island, and the local pastizzi and imquarets are particular faves

There's so much more I could share, but instead here's some pics of our first two weeks.
